What This Test Measures

Measures parathyroid hormone-related protein; elevated in humoral hypercalcemia of malignancy.

Preparation

No fasting required
Draw fasting in the morning. PTH follows a diurnal pattern, peaking at night. Calcium, Vitamin D, and phosphorus levels directly affect PTH — ideally draw all simultaneously.
