What This Test Measures

Collection for cortisol; gold standard for Cushing's syndrome screening.

Preparation

No fasting required
Timing matters for cortisol. AM draws should be between 7–9 AM; PM draws between 3–5 PM. Stress, poor sleep, illness, and recent exercise can all elevate cortisol. Avoid intense exercise before drawing.
